Hasselback has obviously been listening to too much Hannity lately. This clip shows why partisan arguments fail when it comes to torture: People who genuinely oppose torture do so on grounds of principle, not party. Treating the torture question as a partisan matter discourages contemplation of the issue; Hasselback demonstrates this lack of contemplation quite well.
I think it says something that many of the same people who oppose waterboarding happen to be the same people who have been tortured themselves—John McCain, Jesse Ventura. Hasselback can regurgitate Hannity’s arguments for torture all day, but no matter how persuasive they are, Ventura carries much more credibility because he’s been through it.
Ventura say “You give me one hour of waterboarding Dick Cheney, I will have him confessing to the Sharon Tate Murders”
